The following guide will show how to setup the Microsoft Authentication App on your mobile phone 


You will be challenged to do this set-up, even onsite if you have not done so already.


Please Note – Android 6.0 / iOS 13.0 minimum required Mobile Phone Operating Systems 


On your phone, Go to the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play-store (Android) and search for the Microsoft Authentication App – Click Install


NB: Ensure you are installing the correct Authenticator app. It should state 'Microsoft Corporation' as the publisher.

Some 3rd party apps will require a purchase. 


You should never be asked for card details or to make a payment for Microsoft's/TUS' Authentication app. 


To re-set up the authenticator app you’ll need TWO devices.

One device MUST be your phone and the other device can be a computer, tablet, or another phone.

Two devices are required because you’ll need to scan a QR code off the second device from your phone.

Sign in with your LIT email, and password 

You will be presented with the following message – Click Next  

You will be presented with the following two screen – Click Next to both

  

A QR code (Image for display purposes only) will appear on screen 



 
On you Mobile Phone – Open the Microsoft Authentication App 

 If the app gives you the option, select ‘Add Account’  

 If the app doesn’t give you the option to add account on the top right of the app please click either a + sign or click the three dots.


Click ‘Work or School Account’ 



  Select ‘Scan a QR Code’  


Using the Mobile Phone scan the QR Code displayed on your second device. 


Once you have scanned the QR code you will be shown a number on your laptop/second device as seen below.

This number will change with each approval request



 

Depending on the type of phone you have you will have you will need to do the following: 
 

1. Select the number shown on screen from the options available on your authenticator app and click approve 
  
 
OR 
 

2. Enter the number shown on screen into your authenticator app and click approve.
